I assume you paid with a Credit Card? Most credit cards will stop payment, and even refund you the money (especially if they have internet consumer protection). Then, they'll deal with the jerks!

Well, the problem is that I can't cancel it, the phone number that's supposed for cancelling orders doesn't work and their response time for contact forms is 10 days. So I have no clue if they've already recieved my order cancellation... that's why I don't know what to do, I don't know if I'm getting the game in the next couple of days because they've sent it already....

And I've found another dealer already, I bought a pre-order pack in a store so I was certain of participating in the head-start event.

The $10 "discount" is a misnomer. For those who pre-ordered at Best Buy, they spent $10 for the pre-order. To have that $10 deposit count to the purchase of the game (either CE or Regular), they must show the receipt, as Best Buy did not take people's names and numbers for the pre-order.

(They basically just treated the pre-order box like a $10 purchase. which is why having the receipt is so important).

It may not be directly AN's fault, but they control access to the servers so they can do something about it.

It's like your new car being held up at the dealership, they let you drive around in one just like it for a while then the manufactuer takes the car keys away after 2 days until the dealer delivers it to you...

So who should you complain to? The dealer who still has your car, or the manufacturer who takes the car keys away?

tbh there are several things that strike as bad planning to me..

1. The release date
Monday is a national holiday in many parts of the world. The early start should have been 05/01 so people on holiday can play early and not have interuption in play waiting for the mail to arrive. As it stands now the keys expire on Friday, if the full item does not arrive on Saturday many many people will have to wait until Tuesday.

2. Distribution Delays
This may be just me. But I would have a group of people over seeing the production and distribution of the product. It is very unlikely this has suddently appeared. The timeline and project plans for the production of the CE would have been known for months and regular updates fed to this team and upwards.

3. Lack Of communication.
No one has heard a peep from AN since last week on this matter, in spite of hundreds of posts on it

4. Global Delay

So when is a 1-2 week delay across multiple countries and regions not a global delay? Even the standard edition will be late in some places.

Asrial question, I purchased 2 preorders at best buy. I later saw the CE was for sale at Gamestop I preordered from there also. (I have 2 accounts the reason for getting 2 factions) Since I planned on getting 2 versions of the game 1 at bestbuy and one mailed from gamespot. Will best buy apply both preorders to my purchase at bestbuy friday? ( I gave one of my 3 preorder keys to a friend who bought from EB when they ran out of preorders so it works out for him :P )

they should apply both preorders to the one sale right?

Feh, this is kind of good for me, in a way. Im going to cancle my online CE preorder and just preorder the game in a local store =x This will ensure that i get the game on the 28th. People who where able to preorder the CE in a store, well.. no bright side of this for you=p

I have been on top of this problem for nearly a week. I am apparently the only person that visits GWOnline as well as other boards.

/actually, at the gwonline.net forum. some people were saying or heard from their retailer that there is some kind of negotiation with Anet/Ncsoft for an extension of the headstart key. again it could be nothing, but at least it could turn out to be something.../meh.

/me thinks we will get an answer after or during the headstart. It is obvious they have a plateful of things to do even before the headstart (which is in hours.

). It will surely be on top of their "priority list" when things somewhat settle down.

and u have to d/l it stage by stage i suppose (assuming it didnt give u the game install cd)

The Headstart is a BONUS.

But instead of being happy, people are bitchin' it's not long enough?

If I was Anet, I would never, ever, do a "Head Start" again due to all the problems it's causing... which would suck. So quit complaining!

If you want to play Factions, buy the regular edition. If you really want the CE, wait for it.

yes you can play factions, you may have to install the cd, I don't think anyone knows that yet, the patch last night might have been just making prophecies compatible with factions. I guess it is just speculation.

Stage by stage, thats kinda the way it is now isnt it, with updates anyways.

People are bitching because a crapload of people ordered the CE, which is delayed worldwide and Arena Net refuses to extend the "Head Start" to allow for those people to play the game. In a fast paced game like Guild Wars, being delayed a week means the difference between playing with competent people and dealing with "Expert Runner to area I can't spell, 20k"

i pre-order from EB games too, waited 2 weeks, no box, cancled the hole thing, but they had gotten the box at that time, but i was like forget EB games and went to BB, looks around and they have like 5 copys of the pre-order box, which is down to like 3 now, but anyways, i got my pre-order box and fryday going to go to get Factions, cause i want the shirt.

If they want money, they better make us happy. That is how Arena Net more so than any other MMO will stay afloat. They depend on us buying repeat chapters to keep them above water, they screw up with marketing and PR/CR and they go down the drain not only because people stop buying their new chapters but because of poor word of mouth about the company. Arena Net runs on PR.
